Everton captain Phil Neville admits they lacked the necessary "quality" to overcome ten-man Liverpool on Saturday.
Neville gave a brutally honest assessment of Everton's derby misery, admitting: "We lacked quality."
The Toffees skipper said: "It's a big chance missed.
"Before the game we were confident and when they went to 10 men you think to yourself, 'It's going to be our day'.
"But maybe that was a bad thing because they could sit back and we had to force the play but we lacked the quality and guile in the final third to break them down."
