Moyes realistic about Donovan’s Everton stay

Everton boss David Moyes seemed very realistic about the chance of Landon Donovan remaining on loan with the club.

The USA international’s short-term deal at Goodison Park ends this month but his performances have been so impressive that there have been calls for him to stay.

And despite the fact the player himself said there was a possibility of an extension, Moyes was far more realistic after Donovan scored in the 5-1 thrashing of Hull City on Sunday.

"I said to him 'go on and finish with a goal'. I thought he finished it great. The effort he has put in for us over the past two months has been terrific," Moyes said.

"I hope it's not his last game (at home). He's certainly good for the game next week against Birmingham.

"I might try and see if I can extend it a little bit longer but, at the moment, the word from America is that it won't be possible and we respect that decision."
