Middlesbrough boss Strachan: McDonald is frustrated

Middlesbrough manager Gordon Strachan has revealed that striker Scott McDonald is frustrated with life at his new club.

The Australia international joined the Teesside club in January from Scottish giants Celtic but has found life hard adjusting to England’s Championship with form and injury worries the main factor.

Strachan, who managed McDonald at Celtic Park, understands that this sort of thing sometimes happens when a player joins a new club but is confident his striker will pull through.

“He has just not got going and I am afraid that happens sometimes," Strachan said. "I know what he can do, he doesn't have to prove anything to me.

"He just wants to get back playing and scoring goals, he wants to win games for the club.

"He can't do it at the moment because he is injured, but it's one of those things, we will just get on with it."
