Mexes happy at Roma, controlling his temper

Philippe Mexes says he will be staying with Roma - and is working on controlling his temper better.

Mexes said: “Sure, I will stay. It always makes me happy if a team is interested in me, but I am fine with Roma. I had my worst season in five years and I wouldn't like to leave like that. I want to show my worth.”

Later in the interview, Mexes responded to claims he has problems controlling his temper.

“It's true. I have this character, but obviously I will try to be more aware from this point of view. Unfortunately last year it all went a little wrong. Every shot ended up in our goal and in these cases you are frightened and become nervous.

“Then with the injuries, there wasn't the chance, for example, to play often with Juan. In any case, everyone from De Rossi to Cassetti is disappointed for the season just past and we want to improve.

“I feel responsible and I want to be a leader of this team. Instead of shouting at referees I will have to shout at my team-mates or at myself when things go badly.”
