Melbourne Victory’s latest signing, Surat Sukha will be given the unenviable task of playing a pivotal role against Liverpool later this month.

The 25-year old will play for Thailand against the Reds on July 22 in Bangkok with Sukha likely to be matched up against England international Steven Gerrard.

Victory football manager Gary Cole said that it would be a great test for the new addition.

“Obviously if you’re going to man-mark Stevie Gerrard, you’re going to give the job to someone who has the discipline to do that,” Cole said.

“We saw him (Sukha) play against New Zealand…and we can see he can play as a full-back, if we need as a central defender and also as a holding midfielder.

“He has got a wonderful touch on the ball as well, and we’re confident once he settles in, he’ll be able to play anywhere.”
