Melbourne Victory and Merrick notch up 100 games
Melbourne Victory and coach Ernie Merrick will notch up 100 games when they meet Sydney FC on Friday night.
In its 99 matches to date with Merrick at the helm, Melbourne Victory has recorded 48 wins, 23 draws and 28 losses and won an unrivalled two Premierships and two Championships.
The club has scored 164 goals and conceded 112, picked up 170 yellow and 15 red cards, and recorded an average home crowd of 23,416.
Former striker Danny Allsopp remains Melbourne Victory's record games holder on 89, closely followed by Archie Thompson (85) and Kevin Muscat (82), while Thompson leads the all-time goal tally with 42, ahead of Allsopp (36) and Muscat (23).
Sebastian Ryall is the club's youngest player, having made his debut aged 18 years and 51 days, while former Austrian international Richard Kitzbichler is the oldest, having made his final appearance aged 36 years and 15 days.
Merrick will become the second coach to reach the 100-game milestone behind Central Coast Mariners' Lawrie McKinna.
