Melbourne Victory have been delivered a blow on the eve of the A-League finals with news that star striker Archie Thompson has suffered a broken foot.
The all-time leading scorer of the competition sat out the Victory’s 1-0 loss to Gold Coast United last week and was rated a 50/50 chance to play against North Queensland Fury tomorrow but will now miss three to four weeks after it was revealed he suffered a break.
MRI scans showed that Thompson’s bruised foot was much worse than the club thought and he will now miss the final two home and away games and at least the first week of finals plus the first Asian Champions League group stage match against Korean club Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma on February 23.
