Melbourne Victory’s Hernandez named Player of the Year

Melbourne Victory midfielder Carlos Hernandez has been named the 2009/10 tribalfootball.com A-League Player of the Year.

The 27-year old Costa Rica international has enjoyed a stellar season with the reigning A-League champions, providing 10 assists and scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances (prior to Round 27).

His performances have helped push the Victory into a brilliant position to take another Premiership and push for their third Championship.

Melbourne, thanks to Hernandez’s efforts, currently sit on top of the table ahead of Sunday’s vital clash with Sydney FC at the Sydney Football Stadium and need just a point to be crowned 2009/10 A-League Premiers.

Hernandez was a constant threat in midfield for the Victory this season and will be a key player during the finals series which commence on Thursday night with a first-leg semi-final at Etihad Stadium either against Sydney or Gold Coast United depending on results this weekend.

The team at tribalfootball.com would like to congratulate Carlos on winning the A-League Player of the Year Award.
