Melbourne Heart head coach John van ‘t Schip is targeting a quick possession-style of game in the clubs debut season.

The Dutchman has not deviated since he arrived in Melbourne from the fact he is planning to play very attacking football in the A-League with a brand new team and he is not about to change his tune just under three weeks out from the season proper.

“We recruited a lot of players that I’ve seen throughout the last few months,” he told the Bendigo Advertiser during the clubs pre-season trip to the regional Victoria town of Bendigo.

“I think the players that we’ve recruited are going to be able to play the kind of game that I have in mind, which is a position game.

“It is about controlling and playing attacking football and about trying to get the ball back as quick as you lose it.

“I think we are able to do it, but we’re just at the start of a new team and new club, so it’s going to take a few weeks or months to grow and to get better and better.

“I want the team to get into playing the kind of game that I’m used to playing in Europe and the other teams would have their own way of playing.”
