Melbourne to give more Victory-like performance against Sydney
Melbourne Victory midfielder Grant Brebner is confident the team can bounce back from their disappointing loss to derby rivals the Heart on Friday.
The Victory went down 2-1 to their ‘little brothers’ but will be looking for redemption when they meet arch rivals Sydney FC at Etihad Stadium, the scene of last season’s Grand Final loss to the Sky Blues.
“It can't come quick enough," Brebner said.
"We were below par. We've set standards over the course of the A-League and we were well below them. When you lose any game, there's going to be a flat feeling ... but it's a few days later and we're looking forward to the game against Sydney.”
And Brebner added that this weekend would be a much more Victory-like showing.
"Everyone was hurting. I think Kevin (Muscat) said it was un-Victory-like and I can only reinforce that. It was just one of those games and we had an off night,” he added.
“We've actually played well this season (but) there's no excuse what happened on Friday night and I can say this week there won't be the same performance."
