Melbourne back on top with another win over Adelaide
Goals in the first and last minute has seen Melbourne Victory record another win over rivals Adelaide United.
Melbourne Victory 2 (T.Pondeljak 1st, K.Muscat 94th pen)
Adelaide United 0
Crowd: 20,361
The result sees Melbourne return to the top of the table on goal difference and with a game in hand, which will be played on Tuesday at home to Wellington.
For Adelaide the loss all but ruled them out of any hope for finals action, and was more bad news as the Reds try to prepare for upcoming Asian Champions League action next month.
Tom Pondeljak opened the scoring for the Victory after only 22 seconds, accepting a pass from Archie Thompson before first hitting the post and then tapping in the rebound.
Kevin Muscat rounded out the scoring in the last minute, converting a penalty to make it three goals in three games for the veteran captain.
