Melbourne’s Pondeljak confident of Grand final return

Melbourne Victory veteran Tom Pondeljak is confident he can return from a hamstring injury for Saturday’s A-League Grand Final.

The midfielder, who won the Marston Medal for best on ground in last season’s decider, missed the Victory’s last Asian Champions League match against Seongnam Ilhwa after sustaining the injury in the major semi-final second leg against Sydney FC but believes he can play a part in the 2009/10 finale against the Sky Blues.

“I'm feeling pretty good at this stage, obviously it's pretty early in the week, which is a good thing to be feeling like this at the start of the week," Pondeljak said.

"I've just been doing my own light rehab work, basically just been put in a little bit of cotton wool.

"I'll probably get involved with the boys later in the week and hopefully fingers crossed we'll be right for the grand final."

And Pondeljak doesn’t mind how much of the game he plays, as long as he is involved in some way, shape or form.

"That's not a problem, I might be (playing a) half, I'm more than happy to try to come on and do my bit for the team, I'll be more than happy to be involved in any shape or form come Saturday," he added.
