Melbourne’s Brebner: Home form not ideal
Melbourne Victory midfielder Grant Brebner admits the side’s form at home this season is nowhere near where it needs to be.
The Victory have taken just nine points from their eight matches at Etihad Stadium so far, as opposed to 15 from five matches on the road, and Brebner knows things need to improve at what used to be a fortress for the club.
''Are we a better team away from home? Evidence points that we probably are at the moment,'' Brebner said.
''We have won games away and dropped points at home. It's not something we are conscious of.”
Melbourne lost their home game on Saturday 4-0 to the Central Coast Mariners – their equal-heaviest defeat in their history and worst at home, leaving Brebner at a loss to explain why but determined to turn around that home ground form.
''We went into that game with high hopes of winning it, and it's come as a shock to everyone around the club that we lost in the way we did,” he added.
''Over the course of our A-League history we have won a lot of home games. This year we have stuttered a bit. The fact that we have lost a few games at home is something that bothers us.''
