McLeish enters new contract talks with Birmingham chiefs

Alex McLeish has entered new contract talks with Birmingham City.

McLeish has led City to eighth in the Premier League but is one of the division's lowest-paid bosses - on about £750,000 a year.

He still has 18 months left on his current deal but Yeung and City's vice-chairman Peter Pannu met McLeish on Monday to open negotiations.

McLeish said: "It's OK saying 'Here are all the bonuses in the world' but without players I can't bring success no matter how hard I try.

"It doesn't matter what bonuses the board offer, I still couldn't do more than I already do.

"The board need to be assured they will never get anything less from me, but I can't do it without investment."
