Maxi: Sinama-Pongolle convinced me about Liverpool

Maxi Rodriguez has revealed how former Atletico Madrid teammate Florent Sinama-Pongolle convinced him about moving to Liverpool.

Sinama-Pongolle is a former Red and like Maxi he left Atletico this month.

Maxi told LFC Weekly: "At Atletico, I spoke regularly with Florent Sinama-Pongolle and Luis Garcia, especially Sinama. I spoke to him a fair bit, right up to last month. He was saying what a marvellous club Liverpool is.

"He said it's a great institution and good to be a player on the books here. He told me some of the names of the great players who have passed through Liverpool over the years and across the board it is an excellent club.

"As a player I am excited by the prospect of enjoying the footballing culture of Liverpool. I can't wait."
