Mancini: Man City can be as successful as Milan clubs

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says he will transform the club into a European power.

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini says he will transform the club into a European power.

Mancini is unsure about being bigger than Manchester United, but believes City can eventually match AC Milan and Inter in Europe.

Mancini said: “It’s all OK. Fantastic football. A good squad. It’s a good life here and we’re working very well. Manchester is a good city and I hope my future will be here for a lot of years because I think that, in a few years, City will be a big club in Europe.

“I believe we can win many trophies. I hope there will be a change of power in Manchester and we can become a big team. In Milan there are two big clubs and it can happen here in Manchester. It’s better for the city to have the same situation. Two big clubs who play in the Champions League.

“If we become the first team in Manchester I don’t know. But it’s possible for City to be one of the big club clubs in Europe. And there’s not a long way to go. It’s important we work well and quickly. If, at the end of this season we win a trophy and go into the Champions League, I think in one year the situation will be changed at this club."
