Man Utd rumours persist as Guardiola commits to short-term Barcelona agreement

Pep Guardiola's commitment to only a new 12-month deal at Barcelona has added to speculation he will eventually succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

The Daily Mail says doubts remain over his long-term future as the Spanish giants announced he would only commit to a one-year contract extension.

Guardiola admitted: "I know that sooner or later I will cease to be coach of Barca and I have to enjoy the time I'm here to the maximum."

The deal will not be signed until the end of the season and Guardiola can refuse it if he does not like Joan Laporta's successor as president, who will be elected by June at the latest.

The 39-year-old's agent this week revealed six top European clubs were showing interest, with reports claiming Manchester United viewed him as a potential long-term successor to Ferguson.

Reports in Spain even claimed Guardiola could work in tandem with Ferguson from April before taking over from the Old Trafford legend.

The former Spain midfielder is said to admire the control that managers get over all aspects of the club in England.

Too bad Sir Alex is leaving Man Utd in a bad state when he leaves....sad end to a famous club. Maybe FC United can take over its mantle in due time(hint : highly unlikely) ;)

No one smart will take up the hot seat from Fergie. It doesn't take a genius to know no investor is gonna take over this massive debt of the club and initiate a takeover. The next manager gonna have it real hard. Guardiola isn't stupid... Ask Gary Neville or Steve Bruce though, I can sense they are quite desperate to be the next manager. They probably think they hit paydirt... lol.

YAWN.
