Man Utd No1 Van der Sar: Stars all admire Scholes

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar paid tribute to derby hero Paul Scholes after his winner at Manchester City.

The 35 year-old's injury-time winner has reopened the title race.

"A lot of players talk incredibly highly of Scholesy in Holland," said Van der Sar.

"Even in Italy and elsewhere it's the same.

"His image isn't that big and of course he's not into publicity and all that side of things.

"But I know every year the big players recognise the quality of Scholesy. He has the passing ability, the technique and scoring ability. That sort of thing.

"Even Xavi and Iniesta in Barcelona are talking about him.

"So many, many players have a lot of respect for him as a player and for what he has done for United during his career."
