Manchester United could make a late move for Portsmouth fullback Glen Johnson.
The Daily Star says United was last night rumoured to have entered the chase for £18m England and Portsmouth right-back Johnson.
Liverpool thought they had seen off Chelsea. Now, a third club is in the frame – and Manchester City denied it was them.

When i heard Johnson was leaving i was hoping Man Utd would sign him, he had an awesome season at Pompey last year, has looked fantastic for England, with 4 assists in his last England game. Rafael is not yet ready for regular first team football, Fabio is a left back, O'Shea i have never rated, and he is always useful to cover the centre back or left back position if needs be. As for Neville, he is past it and Fergie is becoming wiser to this fact. It would not surprise me to see him take up a coaching role very soon. Wes Brown is still not fit and for me makes better cover for Rio and Vidic should one get injured. Therefore the right back position is not looking as great as everyone seems to think. He would fit in well and get regular first team football i feel, given that he is one of the best right backs in the country at the moment!
Now why would the old windbag Fergie try to sign Glen....maybe just to annoy Liverpool coz I don't think they need him.
I don't want him in MAN UTD...cz we already hv rafael n fabio who can play at fullback positions...
