Man Utd legend Giggs breaks more records with Spurs strike

Ryan Giggs enjoyed breaking two more records in scoring for Manchester United in their win at Tottenham last night.

Giggs, a couple of months shy of his 36th birthday, is now the only player to score in every Premier League season after curling his free-kick into the top corner at White Hart Lane to spark United's comeback.

It also took Giggs' goal tally to 149 for United, meaning he is one away from Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is eighth in the club's list of all-time scorers.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could rest Giggs for this week's Champions League trip to Turkey to face Besiktas, so he may have the chance notch his 150 next week against Manchester City - the club he could have joined as a youngster.

Giggs said: "I'm proud that I have scored in every Premier League season but hopefully that is not it. I don't want it to be my goal for the season. Hopefully I will score more.

"I don't score as many as I used to but I try and score some important ones. The goal against Tottenham was probably one of them."

With Spurs hoping to break into the top four, United's performance was a huge message to the rest of the league, especially as Paul Scholes was dismissed after an hour.

"It's well documented that we've lost Cristiano and Carlos (Tevez) but we have great players here and it gives you confidence when you come to a place like Spurs and get a result," Giggs added.
