Man Utd legend Crerand happy Giggs, Scholes playing on
Manchester United legend Paddy Crerand is happy Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes will be staying another season at Old Trafford.
The 1968 European Cup winner believes that the veteran pair will both have plenty to offer in 2010/11, despite being well into their mid-thirties.
“Paul Scholes has been terrific this season,” Crerand told ManUtd.com. “I think that the manager has realised that one game a week is ideal for Scholes. He has been outstanding towards the end of the season, and we’ve got the right manager to manage that situation.
“Ryan Giggs has done well again too. You worry sometimes when you have players at 35 or 36 that you’re going to have to replace them. But they have kept on performing at such a high standard.”
Along with Antonio Valencia, Scholes and Giggs were United’s top-scoring midfielders in the season just gone - with seven goals each. And their overall input – on and off the pitch – is still proving invaluable.
“I’m thankful that they are going to play for another season,” adds Paddy. “They still have a lot to offer the club.”
