Man Utd keeper Van der Sar: It has to be full throttle to season end

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says the players know it's all or nothing in the final three games of the season.

Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar says the players know it's all or nothing in the final three games of the season.

United entertain Tottenham today knowing victory will put them top of the table.

“The way ahead is quite clear for us now. There are just three league games left so we have to go full throttle,” Van der Sar told Key 103.

“We can’t think ‘We’ll take it a little bit easy here’ or ‘We’ll rest a player for that game.’ We need to keep on believing and working hard. If we do everything we can in our own environment, hopefully that will be enough.”

With United again playing at 12:45, van der Sar hopes this weekend follows the same course as the last one – it would certainly make the Barclays Premier League table more palatable.

“It was also an early kick-off against City so there was still something left of the day afterwards,” reflected Van der Sar.

“It was a nice sunny day in Manchester so I went out for a late lunch with the family. We had a lot of United fans around us and it was just a great feeling to be back in the race after a disappointing result against Blackburn. And with Tottenham beating Chelsea later on, it turned out to be a great day.”
