Boss Sir Alex Ferguson is grooming Ben Foster as the Dutchman's successor at Manchester United.

But Van der Sar, 38, said: "The manager plans to give Ben more games this season and that's normal because you have to look to the future.

"But I still want to play as many games as I can.

"As far as making a decision on my future, I'm going to see how the season goes.

"It's always hard the moment you decide to stop playing."
