Edwin van der Sar admits Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson convinced him to sign his new 12-month deal last week.
The Dutch keeper, 39, said if he only had Premier League games to look forward to, he would have called it a day.
"There is not another bloke in the world like Sir Alex. I really think he is a unique coach, unparalleled.
"The way he has us playing is everything I think football should be be: utter concentration, reaching peak moments at the right stages.
"I only have to think about the AC Milan game. What a joy it was. I have to be honest, if I only had Bolton away to look forward to, I wouldn't carry on playing in England."
