Man Utd impressed by Stockport defender Thompson

Manchester United trialist Josh Thompson could be offered terms by the Premiership champs.

The Stockport Express says teenage defender Thompson, who made such an impact at Edgeley Park with some excellent performances towards the end of last season, has impressed at two recent trial spells with big-name clubs.

Last week Manchester United ran the rule over Thompson, and by all accounts the Reds’ coaching staff were suitably impressed as he joined in preparations for last weekend’s game at Hull City and tonight’s Champions League final against Barcelona.

That followed a week’s trial at West Bromwich Albion, where Thompson was joined by Hatters’ striker Oli Johnson.
