Man Utd defender Brown: Owen great signing

Manchester United defender Wes Brown has welcomed the arrival of Michael Owen.

Fit-again Brown told the Manchester Evening News: "I think it is a great signing for us. I knew him when we were younger and you know what he can do.

"It says it on his record - he is going to be a tremendous signing for us. He scores goals and with the chances he will provided with us, I am sure he will do that."

On the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Brown insisted: "Ronaldo always wanted to go.

"He's been a great player and people have to remember that.

"The club got a lot of money for him and now we just move on. We've done it many times before and I'm sure we'll do it again.

"We've got the squad with players who have done it many times and we've got the younger players coming in who did well last season."
