Man Utd consider move for Italian keeper Buffon

According to the News of the World Manchester United may try to succeed were rivals Manchester City failed by capturing the signature of Juventus stopper Gianluigi Buffon.

Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson is long term admirer of the Italian international and it is now believed the Old Trafford outfit are lining up an €18 million bid for Buffon.

With current keeper Edwin Van der Sar almost 40, the United hierarchy see Buffon as the ideal replacement.

However, much depends on the success of new Juve coach Luigi Del Neri, who took over the Italian giants this summer.
