Man Utd captain Neville: Managers going cold on January market

Manchester United captain Gary Neville says Premier League managers have dropped their interest in the January market.

In his column for the Sunday Times of Malta, Neville wrote: "The Premier League's quietest January transfer window for the past seven years has just ended. I think a lot of managers have realised what our manager has known for many years - that doing business in January is very difficult.

"Clubs set up for the season in the summer and managers don't plan their squads around the January window. If clubs get injuries or something happens then it might be necessary to buy one or two players, but I think they have recognised that business in the January window is not necessarily fruitful."
