Man Utd boss Ferguson unhappy with Arsenal rival Wenger over Scholes comments
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is disappointed with Arsene Wenger over the Arsenal manager's criticism of Paul Scholes.
At a time when the football world has been eulogising over the abilities of a 35-year-old who turned his back on England after Euro 2004, Wenger, while adding to the praise for Scholes, also claimed last week there was a more sinister edge to the midfielder's abilities that often saw him tread a very fine line between fair and foul.
Even Ferguson accepts criticism of Scholes' tackling has sometimes been valid.
However, the Manchester United manager fails to understand why Wenger should add such comments to an appreciation of Scholes' talents.
"I don't know why Arsene Wenger said that," said Ferguson.
"When you are asked your opinion about someone with the ability and performance level of Paul Scholes I don't see why you should say that.
"It is very easy to look at the dark side of any player. I could say it about one of the Arsenal players in particular and everybody knows that but there is no need.
"Paul is not the best tackler but he has not injured anyone in his time here.
"You should focus on the strengths and abilities he shows and also the contribution he has made to English football over 18 years. It is phenomenal."

We all know is an arse-hole right from time.
he is only frustrated dat he he has
not won any trophy for a long time and
he is trying to transfer aggression to uncle SCHOLEY.
*****-off ARSE WENGER.
Fergie, now you see what it looks like having a taste of your own pudding!
You talk and criticize everyone, even the referees (as though your eyes can determine a ref's fitness level) and the English FA not to talk of players and fellow coaches.
O think you should channel your complaints/energies to wrestling the EPL title from Chelsea (if you can) and stop granting press conferences at every given opportunity!
Get a LIFE!
Alex (Ferguson), you can't control what people say about you (or your players).
You simply can't! Everyone one has the right to air his opinion!
I think you should focus on wrestling the EPL title back from Chelsea (if you can) instead of rushing to the press at every slightest opportunity. MUST you TALK back? You have your own share of "careless" comments, ... from the referees being unfit to the FA bla bla bla.
A taste of your own pudding, I must say!
