Man Utd’s Park insists he will be at peak for Asian Cup
Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung has insisted he will be in optimum condition when the Asian Cup comes around in January.
The South Korea captain wants to lead the Taeguk Warriors in the Qatar tournament in early 2011 and says he will be at his best to help his nation improve on their solid World Cup showing from earlier this year.
“I will join the Asian Cup in mid-season, so I should be in top condition for the tournament,” Park said. “I played in the 2000 and 2004 Asian Cups but we could not do that well.
“The AFC Asian Cup is the most important and biggest competition in Asia and we should do our best to win it.”
Following their Round of 16 qualification at the World Cup in South Africa, South Korea are one of the favourites to take out the Asian Cup along with Japan and Australia.
They meet Australia, India and Bahrain in Group C of the competition which kicks off on January 7, 2011.
