Man City see wage bill soar
Manchester City's wage bill has soared over the last year.
The Daily Mail says City's wage bill rocketed by more than 50 per cent even before last summer's £120million outlay on new players, it emerged yesterday.
City's financial results for the year ending May 31 2009, had already revealed that owner Sheik Mansour dipped into his vast wealth to wipe out the club's £305m debt.
It included an annual loss of £92.6m during his first year in charge, due largely to escalating wages which rose from £54.2m to £82.6m. That was before City went on another spending spree last summer.
