Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini insists he won't go out of his way to protect Robinho.

Robinho was one the major controversies during Mark Hughes' reign as City manager.

Mancini said that he would give Robinho his chance to impress him but added that he expects the South American to play well at home and away.

The Italian said: "We work to change this situation because I think Robinho is a top player and when Robinho doesn't play well this question of his away form comes up. But I think Robinho will also play well away - because he is a top player. When you are a top player you must play well home and away."
