MacDonald back at Stoke after Nantwich loan cut short
Rod MacDonald is back at Stoke City after his loan at Nantwich Town was cut short.
The Sentinel says youth boss Adrian Pennock turned up at Nantwich on Saturday and was surprised to see the teenage central defender only on the bench for the Dabbers’ FA Trophy clash with Leek Town.
He was further puzzled by the sight of MacDonald remaining on the bench when Nantwich lost a central defender early on.
And still further bemused, it seems, when MacDonald finally entered the fray as a left winger in the final quarter of Nantwich’s 4-1 win over their local UniBond League rivals.
The upshot was City boss Tony Pulis ordering MacDonald’s immediate return from a loan spell which had been aimed at toughening up the promising youngster, although relations between the two clubs remain perfectly amicable.
