Liverpool recruit Raul Meireles was amongst the scorers as Portugal revived their Euro2012 qualification hopes with a solid 3-1 win over Iceland in Reykjavik.

The visitors opened up the scoring when Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo struck in the 3rd minute with a brilliant free-kick before Helgi Danielsson levelled 15 minutes later to give the home side some hope.

But that was soon erased when Meireles hammered home from 25 yards in the 27th minute to make it 2-1 before Helder Postiga wrapped up the three points with a 72nd minute tap-in from a Ronaldo cross.

The win lifted Portugal to second on the Group H table whilst Iceland dropped to the bottom.
