Liverpool keeper Reina refuses to criticise Barcelona signing Mascherano

Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina refused to criticise former teammate Javier Mascherano over his move to Barcelona.

Reds veteran Jamie Carragher has rapped the Argentine over the way he left Anfield last month.

But Reina insists: "He will not create any problems in Barcelona, he is always professional, never has generated controversy.

"He's a good person even if he is quiet, somewhat introverted. When it's time to work, he works."

if mascherano refused to play, then he is a disgrace. At that stage he had not signed for barcelona. What happened if he refused to play and barca decided against signing him? Mascherano is unprofessional! If u dont wanna play for the club, then *****. The club is always bigger than the player! Good riddence to him. He is already forgotten! When careers are over, its the Loyal players that become idols, mercenary players become just some player who played for the club once. Enjoy ur money mascha because no one will remember u!

Way to go Reina!!!!!

Really it has always been clear that Javier was a quite person, but the real opposite on the field in terms of work. He worked and worked for the team every time he pulled that Jersey!! I mean we all know that Mascherano and Kuyt were the type of Benitez players in that their work rates were very high.

I do not know everybody including Carra and Roy and all the usual Sky and other media pundits/explayers turned "experts" went on to crucify Javier for deciding to go on with his sporting life.
Are now a "one man" team? Are we saying our hummering by Man City was because Mascherano did not play? Ohhh, than there is a problem in the way we look at things to blame when we are responsible for our demiose. Roy made the first mistake to put up an open minded attackong format without the right players. Secondly if we strugggled so much at home against West Brom, how where we to beat Man City even with Javier around?
If Roy said he could not select Mascherano because he is not in the right mind, why did he turn around to blame him for the loss?
Is it not natural that, as a player, if you are on the way out and it is not an "if" but you are sure you will go in a matter of hours, that you would rather not get involved in a potentially fierce match that could let to your injuries and throw your transfer in a mess?

I am sure even Carra would have had the same thoughts. The fact that Carra never experience a transfer in his proffessional or prime time should not make him think what others should and not do when it comes to decisions that usually is about an individual life.

So, thank you Reina for being a proffessional in this regard.
