Liverpool boss Benitez demands better from FIFA over player burnout

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has called on FIFA to play their part to stop the world’s top players suffering burn-out.
He feels Fernando Torres’s injury problems have been aggravated by constant football for club and country.
Benitez said: “There is too much international football and something has to change.
“I’d start by playing international games on Tuesdays rather than Wednesdays to give players extra time to recover and maybe we can organise the calendar better.
“Fernando has a problem and we’ve had to analyse him and find a solution. I’d never ask him not to play for Spain unless he was injured. But the people in charge must also find a solution.”
