Liverpool boss Benitez admits Man Utd competing at different level

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez concedes Manchester United are now competing on a different level.

United have been a dominant force in the Premier League since its creation, winning 11 championships under the stewardship of Sir Alex Ferguson.

And while Liverpool can reflect on their glory years during the 70s and 80s, Benitez believes renewing success at the club is only possible by investment in the playing squad - which he believes will narrow the gap that exists on the pitch between the two sides.

"In the past Liverpool were breaking all the records and making all the signings but over the last 13 years that is different," Benitez explained. "We have to be proud of the history but now we have to manage in a different way.

"I could read Sir Alex Ferguson's words about what he wanted to do when he became their manager but it is different now.

"If you talk about what they have and what we have, it is different, especially with money. We have to reduce this gap in the transfer market and on the pitch."

Aha what a joke from Rafa ! he has spent more than any team, he spents almost 300 million pounds on players in 5 years and still complain he wants to invest more, I am sure even if you give him one billion pounds he wont be able to take Liverpool anywhere.

rafa should been sacked if liverpool in the top 4 or not in the top 4..he is a great manager..but not in EPL..his rotation, strategy and the player he pick is not good..i dont like liverpool playing under rafa..so bored...look player he pick..lucas???kuyt???and look like player he sell..bellamy??crouch??keane??alonso??luis garcia??in rafa squad their are not dangerous player..u see babel...rafa will regret if we let him go and will be a star player if he out of this team..the major problem liverpool have is RAFA..what he's doing at liverpool is not good enough..liverpool cant play wit lower team...sack him plzz..but one more think..dont think liverpool will sack him...coz he is under contract till 2014..if we sacked him, there will be a lot of money to give..probably 20m for him..look like a star player rate..rafa will stay..then next season is another poor performance liverpool again...i can guarantee to liverpool fans

lolz ... i didn't hear Liverpool fans asking Rafa to be sacked when they won the CL a few years ago. Hell, i didn't even hear they say it last year when they finished 2nd last year. the problem with the current system is that it is so easy to blame the managers, think the players need to carry the blame as well!
