Liverpool’s Carragher: We need to stick together

Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher has urged the club to stick together in this time of misery that has seen them win just three of their past 15 games.

The Reds have put themselves in a precarious position in regards to qualifying for next seasons Champions League but the defender says the only way to get through it is to stick together and try to put things right.

“It's tough at the moment, but part of playing for Liverpool is having big character," said Carragher. "That's what we need now.

“Between now and May it's going to be a grind at times, but we have got to stick together to get through it.

"We can't look for excuses. That's the way it is at top-level football. We know that any little thing can get pounced on and that's happening at the moment.

"We've got to look at ourselves and realise that we've got to do much better. For the quality of the players and the stature of the club, we should be doing better.”

Carraghr admits that the title race is now definitely over but said the season can be salvaged by getting their hands on some other silverware.

"You know how the season's gone and the only way we can judge it is at the end of the season when we'll see where we are. We could pick up a couple of cups and everyone would be delighted. At the moment, we've got to take every game as it comes,” he added.
