Lampard expects Chelsea to benefit from Essien Ghana retirement

Frank Lampard hopes Chelsea benefit from Michael Essien's break from Ghana and international football.
Lampard will be hoping Essien’s break has a similar effect on his game as it did for Paul Scholes, who continues to play a crucial role at Manchester United, something he puts down to stepping down from the international game.
"People have been waxing lyrical about Paul Scholes, and rightly so, because if you take him out of the United team now, they will want to replace him and they probably won’t be able to," said Lampard.
