Chelsea’s Frank Lampard has insisted that the team will remain on top of the league table so the Premiership is well and truly secured.

The Blues jumped back to the summit with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Birmingham midweek and Lampard warned title rivals that the number one position in the competition will not be given up without a serious fight.

“It's a nice feeling to be back on top. Even though we had games in hand, we didn't like looking at ourselves in third place,” he said.

“Of course it would be nice to win at Burnley on Saturday and open up a gap before Arsenal and United play each other.

“Burnley is a very tough game, but if we can carry on as we're playing - with the quality, the attitude and the passing - we'll have a great chance to open up that gap.”
