Kompany: Man City benefitting from summer market work
Vincent Kompany has credited Manchester City's sudden form surge to the work of manager Mark Hughes in the summer market.
Despite the fact that the 23-year-old has found himself on the bench more often than not since his return from injury, Kompany has welcomed the increased competition.
Kompany told the Manchester Evening News: "It's a good thing that there's a lot of competition. I think that's our strength this season.
"People sometimes forget just how many changes we have made, and yet we still keep winning games.
"Stephen Ireland and Craig Bellamy, for instance, were two of our best players last season.
"They didn't play against Chelsea, and yet we were still able to win.
"That's because we now have other very good players who are ready to step in."
