Juventus keeper Buffon: Man City not famous enough for me

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon says there's no chance of him joining Manchester City.

City were linked with a move for Buffon before signing Newcastle's Shay Given, who has performed superbly in the City goal this season.

And while the Italy international insists he is unaware if City made any enquiries for him, he claims he would not have been interested anyway.

"I read that City were interested in me last summer," Buffon told the Daily Express. "I don't know if anything was tabled, but there is no way I could have considered it.

"I couldn't justify leaving one of Europe's most famous clubs for a team that are not playing football at the highest level."

nick ur having a laugh yes i agree Arsenal are better than Juve for now but Juve are still a bigger club overall. Having a big stadium does not mean ur a big club

Wenger won t pay what it takes, compounded by weak euro and punitive uk taxes. Frankly, a realistic short term target would have been jaaskelinin or even david james, better hart, who City wont let go in a hurry. Frey is supposed to be a top keeper.

I wish Buffon joins Arsenal! It would be perfect for all parties! He can go to a big club, great stadium, guarnteed Champs League footy, very international players so easy to fit in and live in a cool city. While for the club it would be both a super transfer as they would have strenghtened their worst position with the best in the business plus will show a real statement of intent. Buffon would also give experience and a winning mentality! Please Wenger put all your money on this 1 buy!! Then take Chamak on a free.... ;) UTG
