Juventus chief Bettega: Zaccheroni does not need new signings

Juventus chief Roberto Bettega says no new signings will arrive with new coach Alberto Zaccheroni.

Zaccheroni was formally appointed yesterday as Ciro Ferrara's replacement. He has signed a contract until June 30.

Bettega said: “The opinion Zaccheroni has of the squad potentially available to him is that he considers it more than valid. So we have already said that our transfer strategy consists of recovering the injured.”

Bettega then turned his attention to Juventus's handling of their recent crisis, which has been roundly criticised.

“It seems to me that in a team context everyone shares responsibility. It's never just one person. And obviously the players also have their responsibilities.

“We are agreed with Alberto on the fact that this is not the true Juventus. We can do a lot better. Our potential is a lot superior to the actual position in which the club finds itself.

“I would like to join in with the President and thank Ciro and his staff, but I have to say that our objective is to carry this team and these players back to their right level. In order to do that it absolutely takes their contribution.”
