Lars Jacobsen believes Blackburn showed commendable 'character' in their weekend victory over Aston Villa.

The Rovers players have incurred the wrath of boss Sam Allardyce following a dismal showing in a 3-0 defeat to Everton in their last outing.

Rovers also had Vince Grella dismissed against Martin O'Neill's men, but saw David Dunn's late penalty hand them all three points.

"Even though we had a bad game last weekend, we came back to Ewood Park and showed there's some character in this team," said Danish full-back Jacobsen.

"I hope we are on the way forward now."
