Italy coach Prandelli admits coming close to taking Juventus job

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli admits he was close to taking the Juventus job.

However, Prandelli accepted the Italy job instead and Gigi Del Neri moved to Turin to become the new Juventus boss.

Interviewed in Tuttosport, Prandelli said: “Perhaps now no one is interested anymore… I was very close [to Juve], yes.

“But in our line of work at times you don't choose, you are chosen. The suggestion of [me going to] Juventus and Torino has always been around ever since I started working in the academies.

“Anyway, it's a debate that creates embarrassment for me because I respect Del Neri and his work a lot.”
