Italy’s Bari reject Barton ownership

Italian outfit Bari have rejected the bid of American businessman Tim Barton to purchase the club.

The current controllers of the Serie A club, the Matarrese family, issued a statement saying the deal was off because of a delay in the takeover process.

It is understood that Barton had signed a preliminary agreement to pay $1.46million at the end of September and then pay off the remaining $35.1million a month later but the American had asked for a further 60-day allowance to complete the payments.

“After attentive analysis, it was not considered reasonable to concede further delays to JMJ Holdings (Barton’s company),” said the Matarrese group.
