Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti was satisfied with their 0-0 draw against Champions League title holders Barcelona this week.
“We went as far as we could against a side that is already well-versed in a tactical system that has been running for some time. It was never going to be easy for us,” said the patron.
“In any case, I have great admiration for the psychological, physical and tactical form of the team and [Jose] Mourinho, who did very well.”
While the Blaugrana had more chances and 65 per cent of possession, Moratti feels Inter need time to settle all their new faces into the squad.
“Mourinho is right, it takes a while for a team with five new players and a completely new tactical system to find its feet.
“But this is an Inter side that bought great players and one, Samuel Eto’o, who gives you the certainty he can change a game in difficult circumstances.
“It’s true there was a difference between us and Barcelona, but I think that by continuing along this path we will be on a par with them.”
