Colombian defender Jhon Kennedy Hurtado has signed a permanent deal with MLS club Seattle Sounders.

The 25-year old spent last season on loan from Colombian club Deportivo Cali but his rights have now fully been acquired by the Sounders in a major coup for the second-year club.

Jhon Kennedy was a very strong performer for us during our first season and with his permanent transfer we are able to assure our nucleus remains intact," general manager Adrian Hanauer said in a press release.

In other news, the Sounders also extended the contract of 24-year old midfielder Brad Evans and have re-signed 25-year old defender Tyson Wahl.

"Together with our agreements with Brad and Tyson, this further prepares us to go forward in establishing Sounders FC as a championship contender within MLS and the region,” Hanauer added.
