Hull boss Brown concedes to Sunderland in battle for Man Utd's Campbell

Hull City boss Phil Brown admits they've missed out on Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell.

The England U21 striker was believed to be on Wearside yesterday for a Sunderland medical.

Brown told the Hull Daily Mail: "I'm disappointed but I was always nervous about the deal because of the way it was dragging along.

"But things happen for a reason and as far as Hull City are concerned, the only ones I'm interested in getting through the door are players who want to play for the club."

Brown says he has spoken to United boss Sir Alex Ferguson about the failed Campbell bid.

He added: "I took a phone call from Sir Alex and he was apologetic that the player had not come to us.

"He firmly believed this was the right club for Fraizer but he's obviously getting advice from somewhere else."

LOL @ PHIL BROWN.....what a loser!

he says hes not bothered, then says fergie thinks campbell should have signed for hull, and that he's getting duff advice etc....?

what a moron...that is nothing more than sour grapes and he shouldn't be making private phone calls common knowledge?

for an up and coming player, why would fergie say if its best for campbell to play for a crap manager, in a small stadium, for a small club, with limited funds...as opposed to play for his former captain (bruce), infront of 45,000 fans, in a state of the art stadium for a club with millions to invest in the transfer market? brown is a typical moaning geordie

between sunderland and hull, sunderland are the more "able". sure hull city were great at the start of last season but were also quickly "tired"
