Hoddle haunted by Spurs 2001 Cup failure

Glenn Hoddle admits Tottenham's 2001 FA Cup semifinal defeat to Arsenal still haunts him.

Tottenham were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford in April 2001.

Hoddle told the Daily Express: “I took over four days before that game. Arsenal were favourites and we had about nine injuries.

“We were doing well for a long period, but then Sol Campbell went off injured and Patrick Vieira scored with a header from exactly where he would have been. I thought to myself, ‘What are the chances of that happening?’

“I believe there has been a philosophy change at Spurs. It has taken the board time and money over the years to find someone they trust and want to go with and now they have with Harry Redknapp.”
